Hi Poseidon! Tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got into Fighting Games. What was the first one you played, what’s your favorite of all time?

The first fighting game I played was Super Smash Bros Melee. It’s my favorite game of all time and how I branched into the greater FGC. In college I thought I was really good at smash bros, one of my friends also said he was good and I thought I could beat him, I got destroyed. He told me I should watch the smash documentary and after watching that I was hooked. I got into traditional fighters after getting eliminated from melee at Combo Breaker 2018, so I was wandering around and ran into the NRS games. I was hooked on traditional fighters ever since watching the rest of the Injustice 2 pro series, getting Injustice 2 then getting into Mortal Kombat 11 when it came out. Rest is pretty much history!

What stood out about Invincible VS to you that made you want to give it a try and ultimately invest a lot of time in?

When I tried Invincible VS at Evo, I was hooked almost right away. I liked how the mechanics were simple but can be very complex the more you know, reminded me of Smash in that regard. It came out at a time where MK was getting a little stale for me, no new updates, and pro competition ended, so I was looking for a new game. I told myself I would take it seriously and ended up liking it a lot.

Alongside your usual streams, you also host regular tournaments across multiple games. What inspired you to start running events for your community and what are your favorites parts about organizing tournaments?

I sort of stumbled on TOing. I was attending Smash locals and the TO for one of the events was moving, and someone needed to take over. No one volunteered, so I said I would. Then the main TO stepped away and since I was running the other event in the area I naturally took over. So, I became the head TO of Syracuse Smash. Then Covid hit and everything moved online. After about a year of competing in online events I mentioned to my friend, nott scash, we should run online Mortal Kombat events, about two weeks later we ran our first series. We shortly after started the Shirai Ryu Sunday tournament series, a series we still run till this day. I love bringing new people into the community, giving people a place to compete in their favorite games, and giving people an opportunity to prove themselves competitively. Being able to see your progress in fighting games can be very rewarding and I love providing a platform for people to see their progress.

What are 3 tips you would give a new player looking to get started in Invincible VS?
  1. Pick a team you enjoy playing. The game is pretty balanced Play a team you enjoy!
  1. Find ways you can extend your combos with your assists. You can unlock crazy combos by doing this.
  1. Use your assists a lot in neutral. It will help you get a lot of openings and make your opponent respect where you are on the screen.
Thanks so much for your time! Where can people find you on social media? What kind of content can people expect if they stop by your stream?

Here is the link to all my socials. I make content on how to improve at fighting games, going over events coming up, gameplay, and I also host a podcast interviewing people in the community from event organizers, to players, to content creators. Check it out if any of that interested you!
